Why I love coding (and how it helps your website stand out)

This is one of those personal posts that I write as a reminder to myself that why I really love my work and to remind you that this blog is written by a human (welcome to the world of AI)!

When people hear that I love coding, they usually give me a look that says, “Wait… really?”
And the answer is an awkward, yes, I do. I enjoy coding.
Well, not in the "staring at a screen for 12 hours straight" kind of way (though that does happen sometimes), but in the “I can build anything I imagine” kind of way.

As someone who designs websites for creative entrepreneurs and small businesses, coding is my secret weapon. It’s what allows me to create websites that aren’t just beautiful, but also unforgettable.

I fell in love with coding a long time ago. I was always a quiet kid with an unsatiable curiosity about how everything (and anything) works. I created my first website when still in school, basic HTML, with a lot of animation and pink and bright colors!
While my career led me to work on different technologies and the process of learning all the new coding languages, I never imagined I could come back to designing websites and that too on my terms. But here we are, and I couldn’t be more excited.

I love to use this knowledge and experience in my work, and here’s how it helps me make websites stand out in a sea of sameness.

1. Coding helps me bring my (and my client’s) creative ideas to life

Templates are a great starting point, but they have limits. Coding lets me go beyond drag-and-drop to customize every single detail from unique layouts to fun scroll effects and custom product pages that actually feel like your brand.

You want a section that changes based on the day of the week? We can do that.

Don’t want to pay for another app to add basic functions? 100% possible.

Want a gallery that animates as people scroll? Yep, that too.

Being able to code, means the website doesn’t have to look like everyone else's. And that’s the whole point, isn’t it?

2. It solves problems you didn’t know you had

Have you ever landed on a site and felt frustrated, even if you didn’t know why? Maybe the mobile version didn’t work quite right, or a product page loaded slowly, or the contact form was glitchy. One of my pet peeve when visiting websites, slow loading pages. I can’t tell you the number of times I have clicked on a website from someone’s Instagram and then left, because it just won’t load!

A technical knowledge of the backend, allows me to fix those invisible roadblocks that affect user experience and conversions. These are the small things most people never notice until they’re gone. Whether you’re on Shopify, Squarespace, or something in between, a few lines of code can make everything smoother and faster.

3. It helps me future-proof the Website

As your business grows, your website needs to evolve with you. A cookie-cutter template might work today but will it still work when you’re launching a new offer, selling out of products, or getting press coverage?

Because I can code, we can easily add new features, redesign sections, or build something custom without starting from scratch every time.

It's like building a brand home with good bones—you can rearrange the furniture anytime, but the structure is built to last.

4. It gives my clients the confidence to be different

So many clients come to me saying, “I want my website to feel different.”
But “different” doesn’t come from following trends. It comes from infusing your personality, values, and quirks into your website. That’s the kind of freedom coding gives me. I can match the tech to your creativity and not the other way around. Whatever your different might be, we can do it! You don’t have to fit into a pre-made mold when we can make something completely your own.

I didn’t start in design. I came from a corporate background where I wrote code, managed projects, and learned to think in terms of systems and structure but my heart was always inclined towards more creative pursuits. When I started designing websites, it was like those two worlds clicked into place: the structure of coding meets the soul of branding.

So yes, I love coding. But more than that, I love using it to help creative, passionate business owners like you build websites that feel like you.

If you're tired of trying to make a template work or you're ready for something custom, I’d love to help.

Let’s create a website that stands out for all the right reasons.
